 I am a 58 year old Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and I would like to share my successful "Back 2 Health" journey with you and tell you about the events that finally lead me to Dr. Hinrichs.

About 20 years ago I was involved in a rear end collision.  I suffered whip lash, lower back pain and headaches.  Over a period of many years I had seen many chiropractors off and on.  It's amazing how something so many years ago creeps back into your current life.

Next came my menopausal years.  As the hormones started to decrease, my lower back kept getting weaker and weaker.  I could do something as simple as bending over to get something out of the dryer and it would go out.  I couldn't straighten up and walked hunched over for about 2 weeks - besides being in a lot of pain.

The next experience was the most unbearable of anything I have ever experienced.  It was last March and I had just gotten over the flu.  I had taken a shower and when I bent over to dry off it felt like someone stabbed me in the back and then an EXPLOSION!  I made it to bed and was flat on my back.  I had never felt such a debilitating pain in all my life.

For the first time in my life I begged my family physician for pain pills.  This time it took several weeks before I was somewhat functional.  I moved with such caution, afraid it would happen again.  And again it did!  Just 5 months later, I was working in my flower beds and having so much fun.  I took time to relax in a chair on our deck and when I went to get up - BOOM!  Another stab and an explosion!

I made an appointment to see my doctor, and there we agreed upon me having an MRI.  I was feeling so badly and just felt I couldn't go on any longer wondering when there would be another explosion.  As we were leaving from the MRI, I told my husband to take me directly to my sister's chiropractor.  She had told me how he was helping her so I decided to give him a try.

I remember telling his receptionist when I walked in, "I NEED HELP".  I couldn't believe it; but he saw me right away.  He ordered copies of my MRI immediately and had the results the following day.

I had a herniated disk with a tear..........

I was scared that my life was going to drastically change and I wouldn't be able to do all the fun loving things I like to do or even continue to work.  He sat me down and told me how he would help and eased my fears.  I felt totally confident in him and thus, we began a plan to get me well.

I had weekly adjustments, physical therapy, masages and traction.  As I started feeling better, we talked about how weight affects the whold body.  I was greatly overweight at this time in my life.  I was just getting through menopause and my metabolism had come to a screeching halt.  He told me about a weight loss program he was putting together.  There were 2 teams of 4 people.  It was the perfect diet for me.  We all met on Saturday mornings, weighed in and discussed how the week unfolded.  We shared tips on what worked or didn't work and some of us shared healthey recipes.  You eat 6 times a day.  It's high protein, good carbs, fruits and vegetables and 6-8 glasses of water a day.  I was never hungry, and the best part of it all, you get to have a cheat day.  How good is that?  Mind you - it takes hard work.  There's no magic pill.  But at the end, you've done it wisely and healthy.  The other key factor for this diet to work is exercise.  I walk on my treadmill everyday.  I have lost over 30 lbs. since January.  I went from a size 18 to a size 12!!!

I feel great inside and out.  I also use to have severe heartburn, and at times thinking maybe I could be having a heart attack.  Well, that is all gone.  It is amazing what dieting and an aligned spine can do for the body.

Lastly - I will continue my "Back 2 Health" journey with Dr. Hinrichs, and continue my "change of lifestyle". (I hate the word diet!!)
